  Here are Makaylee's latest assignment sheets. Bible: We are working on learning Psalm 91. We have verses 1-2 pretty much down. Science: We've been getting lots of library books about different science subjects: jellyfish, weather, chickens, etc. We did the rubber egg experiment and we made clay from the dirt pile outback. Language Arts: Makaylee has been picking pretty easy books from the library to read, but a few days ago, she stepped it up and started reading some pretty long Berenstain Bears books. We have been playing Boggle and Scrabble. She loves drawing for our family journal time, but I am still having a hard time getting her to write words. We tried learning our spelling words through word searches. She loves doing them, but after 2 weeks she still couldn't spell the new words so we went back to the index card method.  Music: Makaylee decided to do a song for everyone at Sarah's the other night.   As usual, we pretty much took the last 2 weeks of August off. We will start aiming for 4 days a week next week.  Bible:  We are memorizing Psalms 91. We almost have the 1st verse down. We are also learning a few Books of the Bible songs. Science:  We have been watching quite a few videos and have done a few experiments. We also get books from the library that are about animals, seasons, scientific principles, and other science topics PE:  Grampa Tom has been playing catch with the kids. And of course, there's lots of playing tag, racing, and bike riding every day. Language Arts:  Makaylee is doing word searches every day and knows 80 of the first 100 spelling words.  She is writing one to two sentences a day and is starting to pay attention to things like spacing and letter size. She tried cursive but decided it was just a little too hard right now.  She has just been playing around with typing games so far this year. Next week I will try to get...

Today we made baking soda and vinegar volcanoes and then we played with leaf/crayon prints. Makaylee decided she wanted to print just her last name on her paper.

Today we are starting our 2021/2022 school year. We sat down and made a few goals. These are just the beginning. If we make them all (and we probably will) we will add goals as we go along.
