Daily Assignment Sheets 4/28 - 5/18/21

Here are  Makaylee's latest assignment sheets.  We have returned to doing Kahn Academy, but instead of doing all the lessons every day, we just do one. Over the summer, this will probably be sporadic. I plan on requiring one reading activity, one writing activity, spelling, and one math activity. Anything else will be optional, but Makaylee often wants to do more than what I require anyway. Bible: We are working on Psalm 52:8 Science: Still exploring the composting process, did a couple of Steve Spangler science boxes and a bunch of birth videos.  Language Arts: Finally gave up on they're, their, and there. We'll pick it up later. It's one of those things that you just have to put on a shelf. I am sure Makaylee will be adding lots of new spelling words over the summer. She is reading quite well and her handwriting is getting better. She still gets very tired when writing. Just a matter of building up stamina.  Math: Makaylee is adding and subtracting quite wel...

Girl Things

Makaylee has been asking to watch videos of different animals giving birth all week. Today, Grampa took Ryan to work with him and Makaylee was delighted. She was excited to do "girl things" with me. So I got out the nail polish thinking that was a "girl thing". Makaylee was happy to have her nails done, but she said that wasn't the "girl thing" she wanted to do. I asked what she wanted to do and she said, "I want to watch human babies being born." I said sure! So we watched human babies being born and discussed the changes her body would go through during puberty! We also talked about how a daddy has to put a seed in the mommy's tummy for a baby to grow but didn't go into detail about how that happens.

Daily Assignment Sheets 3/22 - 4/16 2021

Here are Makaylee's latest assignment sheets: Bible:  We are working on the verse that says: Teach me Your ways O LORD, that I may fear Your Name. We have talked about how the fear of the LORD is not a scary fear, but a healthy respect for His power, like we respect the power of electricity.  We have started having a rest time every afternoon, so we switched from reading Bible stories to watching them on video.  Science: In addition to our monthly science box, we had a book from the library that had science projects in it. That was lots of fun. Language Arts: We have been kind of stuck on they're, their and there in spelling. We may need to just skip those for now and go on. We have really started working on letter formation beyond and copying from one paper to another. In typing, she is still pretty much just playing around. No need to get serious for another year or two.  She is reading 4 pages a day and is well past the middle of her reader.  We have t...
