Daily Assignment Sheets 4/28 - 5/18/21
Here are Makaylee's latest assignment sheets.
We have returned to doing Kahn Academy, but instead of doing all the lessons every day, we just do one. Over the summer, this will probably be sporadic. I plan on requiring one reading activity, one writing activity, spelling, and one math activity. Anything else will be optional, but Makaylee often wants to do more than what I require anyway.
Bible: We are working on Psalm 52:8
Science: Still exploring the composting process, did a couple of Steve Spangler science boxes and a bunch of birth videos.
Language Arts: Finally gave up on they're, their, and there. We'll pick it up later. It's one of those things that you just have to put on a shelf. I am sure Makaylee will be adding lots of new spelling words over the summer. She is reading quite well and her handwriting is getting better. She still gets very tired when writing. Just a matter of building up stamina.
Math: Makaylee is adding and subtracting quite well using finger math and doesn't even have to use it on many problems. She is very good at adding two 4-digit numbers and is catching on to adding columns of 2-digit numbers. She has totally mastered the game we play to help her identify number combinations that add up to 10. We are moving on to Make 5. It's a little tougher in that it involves both subtraction and addition.
Social Studies: Last month were concentrating on early American history which culminated in our Colonial Day Party. We learned where the colonies were with a fun song and read quite a few books. Next month our party focus will be on beaches and the ocean.
