Today we are starting our 2021/2022 school year. We sat down and made a few goals. These are just the beginning. If we make them all (and we probably will) we will add goals as we go along. Makaylee's Goals Bible:   We will continue to memorize verses Listen to or watch Bible stories  Learn the books of the Bible Math: Know all subtraction facts Write numbers to one billion Use an abacus to add and subtract Know count bys to 15 Work on Kahn math independently Language Arts:  Spells 1st 200 most-used English words Writes in cursive Journal: Writes 70 words independently Reading: 15 minutes out loud/day Typing: knows all letters Memorize Parts of Speech poem Learns Youtube spelling songs Does Kahn grammar independently Social Studies Knows states and capitals Does projects Watch videos and read books Science Does projects Watch videos and read books Music Learn songs Play simple songs on the keyboard Art Does projects PE Dance class  

 

  Absolutely Adorable!

 

  The kids are anxious to move up so I have decided to call this school year officially over. The public school starts next week so we'll go with that. Makaylee will be officially in 2nd grade. We will probably stick with our summer schedule through September though. Bible We have been working on learning the books of the Bible, Philippians 2:14 and Romans 12:20. We have also been reading from our kids' Bible and a Lego comic-style Bible that we picked up at the library. Science Experiments include, but aren't limited to raising tadpoles, how a stomach works, exploring water tension, and making a sundial.  We have been reading a lot of library books and we picked up a couple of science sticker books at Aldi's that the kids are having fun with. Language Arts Makaylee has been practicing her spelling words with a dice game and word searches. We are currently working on #s 76-85 of the 1st 100 words. We have been doing a lot of family journals and she has started learning ...

 Here are Makaylee's latest assignment sheets. Bible Learned Psalm 37:4 and 1 Peter 2:24 We have been continuing to watch Bible stories at rest time every afternoon even though I didn't write them down. Science  Experiments: Breathing leaf, sound hunt, freezing H2O and H2O2, and growing tadpoles Videos: Fireworks for Kids, Emily's Wonderland, various animal videos Language Arts Knows 65 of the first 100 words, learning how to do word searches, and has 3 pages left in her reader.  Games: That Says and Scrabble Math Games: Monopoly, tablet math games, egg carton math, Chutes and Ladders, Roll to 100, Pig Makaylee has worked a little on her Kahn Academy lessons and we worked on a little math by adding with stick bundles Social Studies We have been working on learning North, South, East, and West, and using a compass. Art Projects: Creating planets, coloring, painting, and drawing PE - Bikes, running, dancing, volleyball, badminton, digging
